This month, the City of Carmel is celebrating National Bike Month and Friday, May 18th has been designated National Bike to Work Day. Carmel residents are encouraged to use the Carmel Access Bikeway and the many multi-use paths that make up part of Carmel’s alternative transportation network as they bicycle to work or to park their vehicles at the Monon Community Center and ride to work from there. The Monon Community Center’s parking lot will be available for bike to work riders to park their cars while they ride to and from work on the 18th.
The City of Carmel will be holding a Memorial Day Ceremony to remember those who have served our country. The public is invited to attend. Light refreshments provided.
CarmelFest celebrates our nation's heritage each Fourth of July weekend with a Parade, fireworks, entertainment, and exhibits. Over the years, the popularity of the event has grown dramatically, with many major businesses in the Carmel and Indianapolis areas joining the event as sponsors.
Conner Prairie Interactive History Park, Indiana’s only Smithsonian affiliate, will celebrate the legacy of our nation’s veterans this Memorial Day weekend with free admission to active military personnel and their families. The park will be open all weekend, including Monday, May 28, and offer special activities for the whole family.
Indy BackPack Attack is hosting its annual kickoff event at the Children’s Museum, 3000 N. Meridian St., Indianapolis, IN 46208, on Monday, June 25, 2012 from 7:30 am to 2 pm. During this event, participating organizations and businesses can pick up their school supply bins and posters to set up at their locations for the 2012 School Supply Drive running through July 20, 2012 and Captains will receive their free Indy BackPack Attack t-shirt.

Orchard Park Elementary and Prairie Trace Elementary in Carmel are encouraging students to bike to school on the morning of May 9th. Orchard Park Elementary will have students join a bike ride from the Monon Community Center to the school lead by the Carmel Police Department. Prairie Trace Elementary is encouraging all of their walkers and cyclists to ride into school on the 9th.

Registration is open for the “CarmelFest Has Talent” annual vocal competition. Non-professional Indiana soloists will compete in one of three age categories: ages 12 and under, 13-17, 18 and older. As was permitted with prior law, a lender can extend the expiration date of a mortgage that does not include a maturity date by filing an affidavit with the appropriate county recorder before the applicable expiration date that states when the debt becomes due.
On May 1st, Carmel-based EventzPlus (“EP”) will move and will also soon be under new ownership. EP had simply grown out of it’s current space and the owners were frustrated by having to turn away business. Local entrepreneur, Frank Howard of L5 Solutions and Indy CoZ, will purchase the business and move it to his larger facility in the Castleton, IN area. Howard is working with current EventzPlus owners to make a smooth transition to its new space.
